Re: Fandom that makes you happiest
Some of the things that make me happiest barely even have fandoms, though. Skies of Arcadia, Jet Grind Radio, Shenmue, KOTOR, The Authority, Uncharted... (Granted Uncharted is an extremely successful video game series, but there's little fic and art. It's disappointing considering Nate/Elena is one of the few canon ships I am all about.)
Oh, Portal too. Not so much the fandom though, as just playing the game itself; Portal can always put me in a better mood. (More recently, just hearing about Tiger and Bunny does this too. That series is adorable.)
Other old favorite include Metal Gear and SGA. (There was a time when Mass Effect would be on this list, and I suppose in a way it still fits, but I won't lie; it's somewhat tainted.)

Re: Fandom that makes you happiest
Silmarillion is a bit too dense for me (which I think is one of the main reasons its fans like it, so different strokes), but I should probably read it again one of these days to see if it would hold my interest better now. (Probably not, as I feel like my attention span has only gotten worse.)
The Children of Húrin was a bit more to my liking, but The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit are more my taste.
