Re: Ding Dong the Witch is Gone
It was such a mess to be blunt. He only worked here (a library) as a temporary job until he finished his engineering degree, and as such, he did not do a damn thing. When he did, he did it incorrectly. He passed his time working on school assignments and telling me very inappropriate things:
- He told me if he could have more than one wife here, then he'd want me to be one of his.
- He also told me he had to approve of any man I'd marry (I'm not straight, but that worked out, too, since he was incredibly homophobic).
- He saw me once with my dad and then questioned me as to who my dad was in relation to me, as if I fuck old men for fun and he had to know.
All of my co-workers - including young women in other departments - were subjected to his bullshit:
- He told an older, married, and childless co-worker that his wife should be made to give him children.
- He got angry, too, when any woman in a higher position than him would instruct him to do something. To him, women were only good for having children and could not tell him, a man, what to do. Nevermind that these women were his superiors.
- Women older than him he viewed as maternal figures and would seek their counsel whenever possible. Many of them had to blatantly tell him they didn't care about his problems. This did not deter him.
- Any woman (such as myself) younger than him were open to his advances. He actually put his hands on some of them and was upset when they very physically rebuffed him.
Why wasn't he fired? My boss and HR were afraid of a lawsuit, as they figured my co-worker could claim discrimination. So, it was ignored and swept under the rug until he finally left. That was fun, too:
- He demanded an apology from the son of one of the women we worked with for her behavior (in that she didn't take his shit). When he didn't get the apology, he was absolutely surprised.
- His parting words to a new male co-worker starting in our department: "Don't talk to any of the women here. They're evil."
Re: Ding Dong the Witch is Gone
Next time that happens, document the date, time, and instance of every single incident. See if he can call discrimination on that.
Re: Ding Dong the Witch is Gone
I and others did that, sadly - my boss refused to deal with it, HR only pretended to care, and the girls in the other department were threatened with job termination by their boss because he had a crush on my co-worker.
The most HR did was tell my co-worker he has to listen and do as he was told, which is when he then decided we were all very evil - he was actively trying to get people I worked with fired, but he ultimately wasn't that smart nor was he as clever as he thought he was.
