how is it 'caring so much' to make an offhand remark about someone probably regretting something later on?

(Anonymous) 2014-07-16 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
It's meanspirited.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-16 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
not really, it's just making an observation. you see someone about to do something that you think is stupid, you cringe and go 'oh boy that is not a good idea.'

(Anonymous) 2014-07-16 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
It's not an observation, it's a judgement.

NART

So what? People make snap judgements all the time. People judge other people by their appearence all the time. We can't help it, it's being human.

The real problem is when we let our first impression form our *only* impression of a person. Yeah, I might think a pokemon tattoo is something someone might regret later on, but it's not going to stop me either being polite to that person or trying to get to know them. Depending on the situation.

And of course, the biggest problem of all is when we let our judgements of individuals color our view of an entire race/religion/ethncity.

But just having a fleeting opinion on whether someone will regret a tattoo or not? Is NOT a problem.

NO
QUIT JUDGING
JUDGING IS MEAN AND MAKES PEOPLE FEEL BAD ABOUT THEMSELVES
NO ONE MUST EVER JUDGE
EVER
IT'S NOBODY'S BUSINESS WHAT I DO WITH MY BODY
I SHOULD EXIST IN A VOID
NO ONE SHOULD SEE ME OR FORM IMPRESSIONS OF ME BASED ON MY APPEARANCE
OR ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT ME
NO ONE SHOULD KNOW WHO I AM
THAT'S JUDGEMENTAL

Probably what people are thinking about your comments.

eh, you're right. I overreacted.

I saw a lot of it in this thread, and shouldn't have concentrated all my annoyance into one response. And of course you are right that sharing your opinion on tattoos isn't the same as berating a specific person who got one.

Because if you didn't care about it, you wouldn't comment on it. It's as easy as that.

You obviously spent a lot of thought and emotion on the fact that somebody else got a tattoo that you don't like. And it irks you so much that you felt the need to pass judgment. Don't fool yourself or others.
