What are we supposed to talk about in this thread? It's not really clear.

The Book of Job, obviously.

Once upon a time, God was a massive asshole to some poor simpleton to prove that he did indeed, really, truly, like like him. /thread

Yay, God.

So God is tsundere? Makes sense.

Re: Job Thread

Yep, this. And don't forget the part where God smites him with disease and kills his entire family, but it's okay because Job gets better and gets a whole new family at the end. Which is supposed to teach us that no matter how terribly life treats us, as long as God replaces your dead wife and kids you should still keep the faith!

Don't forget the part where if you flip God off for ruining your life, you're the jerk. So shut up and put up until you get fixed with the new and improved replacement family!

And remember: if other people suffer/die, it's because you're being tested. It's all about you!

Yep. You win the thread.

Possibly the most overrated book in the canon?

(Anonymous) 2014-07-17 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
The Book of Job is pointless nonsense. There are shaggy dog jokes with more meaning. I think the main reason that people take it seriously is that it's in the Bible, and it's probably only in the Bible canon because, well, it was in Hebrew, God's in it, and it was kinda there....
