Yeah, I said I was interested, not that I was For Sure signing up.

I'm a little nervous about my music taste being either bland or weird, and am wondering if there are any other guidelines for this? How many tracks, can they name genres, etc.

Hey....my taste includes a bunch of old Radio Disney Pop so..uh...if people are cool with me they should probably be cool with yours.

Also on 8tracks one mix tape usually requires at minimum 8 tracks. I think the site only names the title the artist and the album oh and the year.

Literally like half of the people who signed up said they were worried about their music being too weird, so at least you'll be in good company. Seriously though, just pick some songs you like and you'll be fine.

I was trying to avoid setting too many guidelines in order to not scare people off, so there's no hard rules about numbers of tracks or requests. I know 8track at least sets a hard minimum of 8 tracks, and in the past I've tended to shoot for about a CD's worth of music (so 90 minutes give or take). It's up to you if you want to suggest/request a genre, but keep in mind the other person might not have anything of that genre (and if they request something you don't have then obviously you don't have to comply either).

I'm happy to take you off the list if you don't want to participate anymore, no worries, especially since I apparently misread your reply (sorry!) Just let me know either way before Friday.

:O a CD is 90 minutes? I only own one CD that's even close to that long, and it's more like 75-80 minutes (and it's a Greatest Hits CD).

I would say 40-60 minutes is pretty normal for a CD?

And nah, I'll participate, since it doesn't seem like that much of a time commitment. :)

Actually the max capacity of an audio CD is about 80 minutes but I was rounding up (also I forgot). I have a hard time culling down mix tapes okay :(

Anyway it doesn't matter how many songs you have as long as you're happy with it.

Eh, I already created a mix (will still edit it, I guess) but I actually made an effort to fit as much different genres and languages into it - and I still feel it's a little bland+weird. So you're in good company, I guess XD
