23: I really don’t like to be argumentative but if you’re going to argue non canon don’t do it with another non canon relationship. Really no one relationship is canon (apart from Light and Misa) but Mello and Near’s lives are very much intertwined, whether it’s simply their rivalry to become L or race to capture Kira. You can’t deny mostly everything Mello did was to best Near and there for as ‘boring’ as he may be Near is a very important part of his life just as much as Matt was someone he could rely on. And in yaoi land you can easily concoct a relationship from the smallest thing. And I will admit when it comes to Mello and Near I’m terribly bias as if you couldn't guess from my icon ^_^
