You should play the game. You might not like Tidus; many people don't. But it's still fun. Learn blitzball. Spend hours playing it. Achieve enlightenment.

Also, it's okay that you read ONTD. Many people do, and some of them even post here.

I really don't get the hatred for Tidus... I mean, I can't say I love him, but I do like the character and I think he's really relatable. Yes, he is obnoxious and silly at times, but if you think about it, he's a young man that had more or less lived a good life, despite his daddy issues. He was famous and loved, and all of a sudden he finds himself in an alien, hostile world in which he has to fight for his life. And despite that, he still tries his best to always keep the morale up.
I like how he's written and I like how he grows through the game. I really can't understand how people can mindlessly hate a character that all in all it's very well written.

I played FFX when I was younger. I'd really like to replay it now and see if I feel the same about him. I was in the 'blind hatred of Tidus' camp originally, but I've found a lot of my feelings on characters changed a decade later, so maybe I'd feel differently about him now.

Auron is fucking hot. When I first played the game, I was pretty young (it was 2003, right?) so I'd daydream about him coming and being my mentor/guardian person. The next playthrough was post puberty, and my fantasies were something else entirely.
