I like you OP. But I don't know why anyone wouldn't understand this - surely there's a clear difference between seeing romantic chemistry/subtext and wanting to explore it.

I think for some people, when you say, "Yeah, I can see where you're getting that [romantic/sexual shippiness] from, but those two just don't click for me that way" -- they only hear the first half of the sentence, and then don't understand why you aren't going where they went with it.

it sounds like the thinking that shipping is objective, instead of an expression of something personal about the reader. I want my OTP to chose each other, not get together because romantic chemistry naturally results in relationships, ugh...
