It just sounds to me like "othering" people who are not Caucasian. I don't see how that's helpful.

Same here. I was honestly taken aback when I first heard the term used. It sounds like something from the 50's, honestly.

Oh god, I'm so glad to see someone else feel this way. I loathe loathe loathe the term POC, it sounds so close to calling people 'coloured' or something and it just makes me extremely uncomfortable.

I really hate it, too. Can't you just say what ethicity someone is instead of whether they look European? I find it really odd. Maybe it's because I'm not American.
