Some of both. I spend a lot of time just puttering around in CAS and in buy/build mode.

When I actually get around to playing a Sim, at minimum they start out with a lot more money than the CAS default, plus every lifetime reward.

To me it's just a digital dollhouse.

I like making up faces for characters I've had in my head for ages. I also like playing them and sending them to collect stuff like gems and relics, though the game has stopped being playable for me (it crashes within about 10 minutes of starting it up). I am hoping S4 will mean I can play with new versions again.

Ouch, that sucks.

I made the mistake of sending my current Sim to China, then sending her off to University. (Two new traits without even cheating!) It now takes ~15 minutes for the game to load, and it's lag city at University unless I "play" it zoomed all the way out with all the map tags turned off.

But at least it will play.
