Archie killed in adult version of comics

As long as we're discussing Marvel.

What bugs me is that apparently it's to save his gay friend, a veteran lobbying for gun control. I'm all for gay marriage. And gun control. But I feel like those two issues are being mishandled in a joint attempt to be "edgier", and I don't like it.

Apparently they wanted to make Archie the "hero he always was." Huh? He was a so-called "nice guy" half the adult cast couldn't stand (or loved, but found a bit ridiculous) and played with the hearts of his two female best friends. Sure, I loved both the character and the comics as a preteen, but I wouldn't call the guy a hero.

He died for a friend, that's heroic. The problem is, Archie hasn't had to draw action for too long. The pacing of the scene was horrible. That shooter should have been riddled with bullets before Archie could have even gotten in the way of the shot.

Ehhhh, I don't know how I feel about it. I'm not a huge fan of the darker and edgier (I mean, you know, darker and edgier for Archie) storylines going on in the Life with Archie universe although I guess they're kind of interesting.

I thought it was a nice scene and it's neat how it ties up either story.

Nope it's Betty

Cheryl only gets the cancers in the AvB universe, and we see Cancer Cheryl in the comic.

There's a spinoff called Life With Archie that shows the cast as adults and has two concurrent universes, one where he's married to Betty and one where he's married to Veronica. It's grittier and has an ongoing plot. I think it's been around since 2009? Regular Archie is still alive.

Oho ho. Just wait until you look up the other spinoff, Afterlife With Archie and the upcoming Sabrina horror comic that takes place in the 40s or something.

They're not following the comics code thing anymore, so it gives them room to play with AUs. The regular digests you see at the grocery aren't going away or changing up too much :)
