I've been thinking about it recently, and more so with the anon meme, but I'm torn between making an account on here and staying anonymous. More specifically, thinking of making just a throwaway account for all the people who have issues with various things about anonymous, but I feel like if I do make an account I might as well make it reflective of me and not just some random account to not be yet still be anonymous. But I like certain things about being an anonymous user that makes me hesitant of becoming a registered user.

You can make an account and go anon with more personal or controversial comments.

Either way is cool but like nursejoy said, you could still go anon when you wanted; you wouldn't be obligated to use the account if you didn't like it.

(Plus...you can use icons with an account. Which is obviously the most important part of having one.)

I know what you mean. I made a sock account a while ago because I felt the same way. I thought I'd just use it for FS, but then I thought I might as well use it and reflect who I am. Then what I found was that as my sock account started to get an identity, that I started to use it less and less to post. It got to a point where I'd use it to only post positive comments or say things I knew people would agree with. I felt myself hesitate a lot more before replying to posts. Slowly I reverted back to the safety of being anonymous. I'm not saying that you would have the same experience, but for me, I much rather be faceless or iconless. I feel a lot more free to say what's on my mind.
