Songs that match up eerily well with a fictional character

List the ones you've noticed! Ideas that are totally ripped off of fanvids you've seen are ok too!

I could probably toss the entirety of Electra Heart at Elsa. Specifically Scab and Plaster.

hero's return by hammerfall and thorin oakenshield

eta: here are the opening lines:

in a time of fear and confusion
silence charging the air
the sunlight is gone, darkness lives on
in the heart of the dragon's lair

lost in a world of illusions
no trace of the missing ore
stealing our souls, we're out of control
knocking at death's door

Oh hey, somebody else who listens to Hammerfall! *fistbump*

Atavan Halen and Eridan Ampora.

- "Wide Open Spaces" (The Dixie Chicks) fits Ayla from Earth's Children eerily well, minus the last stanza. Seriously.

- Set Fire to the Rain makes me think of Katniss from The Hunger Games. Or Peeta. Or Gale. Really, all of the characters...

- Joan Baez's "Diamonds and Rust" could be every single scorned woman on that show, and Joni Mitchell's "Little Green" could be the parents to their permanently screwed up children (as well as the child Peggy gave away - the song WAS originally about adoption, after all). I may make a fanvid.

- Mal's Song could be about the Doctor in the RTD and Matt Smith eras.

Mowgli's Song by Marina and the Diamonds = the Eleventh Doctor.

All the Doctors, Doctor Who

I once did this for each incarnation (it was made long before the 50th Anniversary Retcon Special so forgive the inconsistencies)

One: "Whatever It Is" by Ben Lee

Two: "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance

Three: "What About Everything?" by Carbon Leaf

Four: "Magic Carpet Ride" by Steppenwolf

Five: "Jesus for the Jugular" by The Veils

Six: "Cuz I Can" by P!nk

Seven: "Halo" by A Perfect Circle

Eight: "Handlebars" by The Flobots

Nine: "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay

Ten: "Demons" by Imagine Dragons

Eleven: "Mowgli's Song" by Marina And The Diamonds

The Doctor as a whole person (+all companions, the TARDIS, everyone he's met, the universe at large): "Read My Mind" by The Killers

"No One Knows My Plan" by They Might Be Giants could have been written about Light Yagami.

Cuz I Can by Pink is so totally James Bond.

The fact that it's from a female POV just makes it even better and more appropriate.

So, what character would fit "My Immortal" by Evanescence?

(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it possible? Is it possible to do unironically?

"He is Duncan McCloud. He was born five hundred years ago in the Highlands of Scotland, and he is still alive..."

Duncan Macleod, and his identical grandson, Duncan Macleod!

OK, I was going to say, "Dust in the Wind" is his song, but yeah, that fits him.

This is pretty well known in the fandom, but I'm kind of amazed how well "You Are the Moon" fits Princess Luna. When I first heard it, I thought it was a filk song, but it came out years before the character existed.

Okay, not a character, more like a relationship, but House/Wilson is One Week. It just is. (Yes, that IS a fanvid.)

Another, (BBC) Sherlock fits so well with the song Oh no! by Marina & the Diamonds. (Again, saw that in a fanvid.)

Call me by Shinedown is perfect for Joel. (The Last of Us.)

...Most of mine come from fanvids, actually. Oops.

King by Lauren Aquilina fits Zuko so well.

I know the song Lions! by LIGHTS was written about WoW, but it always makes me think about the Tortall books, especially the chorus in referencing the first four heroines -
Lions make you brave - Alanna, natch
Giants give you faith - Kel, with the giants being Raoul, who really gave her the self-confidence to believe she could be a leader, and the giant killing machines, which gave her a quest
Death is a charade - Daine, for that one scene at the end of Emperor Mage where she stomps the palace into dust with her skeleton dinosaur army
You don't have to feel safe to feel unafraid - Aly, the spy who is in constant danger during her books yet rarely scared of it

Oh GOD I've seen King applied to Link from Ocarina of Time and every time it reappears on my dash I have to scroll by or I'll get depressed. Here, check it out!

Ariadne by the Cruxshadows works so so well for Inception, far beyond the shared name of the character.

Doesn't quite fit the question, but I realised as I was writing it that the best song to fit a fic of mine (canon-divergent AU involving reincarnation) is a freaking Eurovision one XD;;

(Only Teardrops, the Danish winner from 2013.)

Alicia Key's Girl on Fire always reminds me of Katniss. Not really original, but it's the only one I can think of.

I wouldn't say it's completely perfect, but Funnyman fits Dexter quite well to me.
