For some reason, I'm really jonesing for a fanfic in which a character (or more than one, like two best friends or two members of a pairing) gain psychic powers. Any kind. Full-blown mind-reading or something less sophisticated.

I have an AU sorta like that for Danny Phantom, if you don't mind a selfrec. In canon the protagonist has powers but in this version his friends and sister have a special ability too.

Shadows on the Wall by AraSigyrn is, like, one of my favorite BBC Sherlock fics of all time. The premise is that John came back from Afghanistan psychic. Fantastically believable and well written.

i feel like i have read seven thousand of these, i'll come back if i remember more.

There's this Starsky and Hutch fanfic, but if you're not in the fandom, I don't know if you'll be that interested in it -- part of the point of the story is the fact that in canon, the two characters are so closely attuned to each other that they are as close to being psychically linked as you can get without it being actually supernatural, so the fic just pushes that one step further. If you like hurt/comfort though...

I have at a couple Teen Wolf ones for you. Poor Derek is the one who gets the random psychic powers the most.

--Mutations start happening, and Derek Hale ends up with telepathic powers (which is the worst)
