It's not about her wanting to be blue, it's that Erik's side of the debate thinks humans will kill them, due to their massive history of killing anyone who's different to them, which many of them have direct experience of. Charles' side is the peaceful 'let's all be nice to each other and change will happen because everyone is good at heart' side. Things happen that make both sides sympathetic which is why the conflict exists? Idk how you can think it's about someone killing people because they can't be blue if you've watched the films, they're pretty unsubtle metaphors.

I don't sympathize with Erik's side. They're reckless idiots and their behavior annoyed me to no end. Things happen that may have made both sides sympathetic to you, but not to everyone. Personally, I just wanted to bitchslap them.

so you dont have any sympathy for a man who lost his entire family in the Holocaust?

(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Should I sympathize with Hitler because he saw the terrors of the First World War?

(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
how is that comparable to being in the holocaust?

(Anonymous) 2014-07-19 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
it's probably not ultimately comparable but being in the trenches in WW1 was still pretty fucking bad. it was not at all a fun time.

the face that he suffered unbelievable cruelty doesn't actually make his ideas less stupid or destructive

it's just sad

also his mother was killed by a surpemacist mutant so good job with explicitly becoming that I guess

In the comics his parents were killed in the death camps.

lmao, yesssssssss.

(He's an interesting character and Fassy does a wonderful job portraying him, but...ugh, Erik. And yea, I know his back-story is different in the comics.)
