Re: National Stereotypes

Germans being punctual and having a very strict work moral and being very efficient. I used to think it was bullshit, but having lived and worked in other countries now we really do seem to have different mentalities in those points.

I hate the uncultured Bavarian stereotype, though. We may like our dialects and our beer, but that doesn't stop us from being economically and educationally one of the top states in Germany.

Does the Bavarian stereotype exist outside of Germany? I've not come across it.

I don't think so, mostly because people outside of Germany seem to think the Bavarian stereotype (beer drinking and wearing lederhosen) is a general German thing.

That's such a silly stereotype. It's the 21st century for goodness sake. :/

But do you enjoy going out for a wander in the hills? That's the question.

Oooh, yes. I always thought the whole "diligent worker, super punctual, super serious" was funny because I always had the feeling the people I worked with were some of the laziest people ever- but then I went abroad and... wo yeah, okay, I get it.

It's still weird for me how punctuality is just Not A Thing in some places, especially when it comes to work. But then, I'm still not over people drinking in the office during work hours or getting completely smashed at office parties and/or the pub after work in full view of the higher echelons.
