America

We eat nothing but fast food.

All of our food is nothing but pizza, fries and burgers.

Everyone only speaks English or more rarely Spanish.

Everyone's has only English last names like Smith, Jackson, Jefferson or Washington.

We are very violent in a punch first and ask questions later...if we ever get around to asking questions.

American woman are vapid, shallow and strange enough, blonde. I always see other countries portraying American women as blonde.

We don't have our own culture. (Whatever that means. I am still confused by this stereotype considering how much non-Americans fawn over American books, plays, music, movies, shows, fashion, dances and slang.)

Non-American here. I've never heard of any of those. People actually believe these? Wow.

Oh, yes. Especially about the food one. As in, "American food sucks. It's all McDonald's and KFC. They don't have real food like we do. blah. blah. blah."

And with the names I've heard non-American on non-American shows discussing American citizens' names who have been in the news going, "His name is what? That doesn't sound like an American name."

What? All names on this planet have the potential to be an American name. We have people from across the globe as citizens here. Not just people with English surnames.

Well that sucks. They're stupid stereotypes. If it's any consolation I don't think I know a single person over here that has such a shallow perception of America.

The culture one really irritates me.

Because the US didn't produce Aaron Copland, John Cage, anyone from Tin Pan Alley (the Gershwins, Irving Berlin) and ragtime/jazz (Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Miles Davis), Dorothy Parker (and her poison pen), Maya Angelou, Martha Graham, Bob Fosse... just to name a few "classic" artists.

That's pretty much all we study, here in Cananada. Hell, my school's most famous resident "Canadian" composer is originally from Minnesota.

Siiiigh.
