I'm sorry, I don't have anything to input on helping you; I'm on my computer all day and playing PC games with K+M and never really experience what you do. I just wanted to say that certain controller's aren't that hard to install. Take for example the controller you see on Steam's Big Picture stuff (Gamepad F710), all you do is plug in the usb wireless thing and it is pretty much ready to play, unless you are using an emulator or something really old where you have to manually set up how the game responds to controller inputs.

I have one of those off brand x-box controllers for the PC and all I had to do to get it to work was plug it in and wait for the drivers to automatically install. That was it.
