Personal rec lists are smart! I usually save my favorites in a folder but it's been so long since I've read some of the Lord of the Rings fic that if I did do that, I have no idea where they would be. Or if I even still have them.

Yeaaaa, them overcoming their prejudices and forming that unbreakable bond (Legolas taking Gimli to the undying lands will never not break me) made them one of my favorite LOTR relationships. They're very near and dear to me.

I pretty much spend that whole class in a fangirly haze, haha.

Haha, I can imagine! Though it sort of baffles me why people who dislike Tolkien or fantasy would take that class. I'm sure there's a variety of interesting subjects to choose from, so why not go with something you actually enjoy? Ah well.

I love my personal rec lists, but I'm also always perpetually behind in making them, so they're not quite as effective as they could be. Still, they're helpful for the ones I do have.

Yes! Characters overcoming prejudices in order to become friends are already a Major Thing for me, but Legolas and Gimli just do it so well. Their relationship is gold. And I may or may not have cried the first time I read that bit about them sailing for the undying lands together. Ahem. Even now, just thinking about it makes my heart ache.
