(As to your last question - Yes, all the time. *g* I've written some things for anon kinkmemes that I later reworked and posted on Ao3 ... and then later orphaned when one of the Spawn's friends said, "Oh cool, your mom writes fanfic, what's her user name?")

As to whether to stay anon? I think it's reasonable, if you're proud of your work, to want to put a "name" to it, but I can see the appeal of being anon, too. It's a no-pressure position: if your enthusiasm for writing the rest of the series is waning overall, certainly staying anon lets you abandon the story with -- well, maybe not less guilt, but certainly less accountability. ~ Otoh I truly believe that if a story is strong enough, if it's really tapped into you on a deep level, it won't stop rattling around in your brain til you've finished it -- whether you're still anon or not.
