She doesn't WANT to look like Jennifer Lawernce.

Yet funnily enough she repeatedly makes the choice to. Does she choose an ugly/fat/disabled face to show to the world? NOPE, she chooses a goddess, because when you have that POWER why not go whole hog, right?

Except apparently without her powers, Mystique doesn't look ugly and isn't fat or disabled; she looks like Jennifer Lawrence. It's not her "default" appearance because it's a simulacrum of a conventionally attractive woman, but because if she wasn't a mutant, that's what she'd look like.
Since the character was created so either her blue naked form or human mask are beautiful, blame the writers/illustrators, not the character. That's like blaming Jennifer Lawrence for not gaining a hundred pounds because she should chose to be fat so people won't be jealous/there'll be a fat Hollywood darling (until she stops getting roles because she's fat.) --a fat woman.
