I misinterpreted almost every RBY overworld sprite for years. I thought those girls were wearing helmets, BlueGreenGary's hair was a baseball cap, and the little kids holding gameboys had long ass beards.

I thought the Gameboys were mugs. Like they were drinking coffee or something. I didn't realize they were Gameboys until 3rd gen, when kids were obviously holding GBAs.

I never saw them as turbans, but I thought those girls were wearing hats of some description when I was little.

I also used to think the kids holding the gameboys had really large (and really square) jaws, and I called the hikers 'mole people' because I thought their overworld sprites had snouts.

Well I never played whatever game that is, but in the very first version of Civilization I always thought the Settler units looked like weird smiley faces.
