the problem with not having many friends...

(Anonymous) 2014-07-20 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
...is that I can't get anyone to do anything with me. Usually I don't care because I work a lot and want to sleep on the weekend, but I'd really like to plan a vacation (nothing huge, just Disneyland) and I cannot get a single person to commit to come with me :\

Yep, I knwo the feeling. :/ My closest friend also has a part-time job only, and the money she does make goes to rent, so she never has money to do anything - I offer to treat sometimes, but while she's fine if it's a ten dollar pizza I'm treating for, something like that is pretty much out of the question.

Aww man, I'd love to come to Disneyland with you! (Except Disneyland is expensive and I don't know you, so...)

But I hope you can find someone before then! Keep asking around, maybe someone will change their mind/have an opening/whatever?

Disneyland is a rather expensive, all-day commitment. Maybe that's part of the problem? Personally, I wouldn't want to go even if it was a very good friend doing the asking.

Disneyland isn't appealing to me either, but I get the impression anon was just using that as an example, and meant in general they don't have places to go with others.

I don't know. I reread the comment and it looks like they're citing Disneyland as a specific place they'd like to go, not just as an example.

"...but I'd really like to plan a vacation (nothing huge, just Disneyland)..."

They didn't say they wanted to go to a place like or similar to Disneyland.

Same. I'd try to get them to do something else, because it's not worth the cost to me.

People I'd call friends, really and truly? None, unless my ex counts.

Even concerts are difficult because most go on sale months in advance and can cost easily $100. Unless they're really into the performer, it's a hard sell.
