When I was nine or ten, I had a corn on my heel. My parents gave me a corn remover to get it off (a box of several bandaid-y things with salicylic acid that you wear over the corn and change every couple of days for a week or two) until eventually it turned dead and meaty and white, and peeled off when I was in the tub.

Instead of throwing it in the trash, I kept it in my nightstand drawer for a couple of months.

Huh. Any idea why? I'm the anon above with the toe thing and while I'm sure it made perfect sense at the time, that sense escapes me now.

I think I thought it was cool. Like, this big hunk of skin used to be attached to ME. Wow! Awesome! It looks so much not like my normal skin, but it totally was! That kind of stuff is fascinating when you're younger. ;)

I do similar things. I still have my impacted wisdom teeth that were surgically removed.

I also keep my tonsil stones for a week or two when I cough them up. It's fascinating watching how they change from "wet" to "dry".
