When an RPer is Doing It Right, but you don't know if they're trying.

I follow an RP blog and I'm not sure whether the mun intentionally plays the character as being high-functioning autistic. It fits the canon character just fine and is portrayed sensitively, and I always want to point to them as an example of how to write autism well, but I'm worried that's not what the writer is thinking at all and will get offended. How do I go about asking if that's what they mean to do without coming off totally rude?

I'm autistic myself so would saying so make it less likely to be misinterpreted?

Strike up a conversation along the lines of 'I've seen people interpret character X as autistic, what are you thoughts/feelings on this?'. Their response will probably tell you enough on whether or not they are specifically playing their character as autistic or not.
