Yeah, this is something I'm kind of struggling with reaching a middle ground on, as someone who really loves studying how language works. I think I have a bit of a knee-jerk reaction because I know a lot of people who are quick to judge someone or put them down for using a word "wrong" and it really bugs me. I do agree that there should be consistency, especially in writing, because writing as a medium just tends to be much more conservative in word meanings. But I dunno, I'm not rly expressing myself well right now but I don't like when people dig their heels in the ground to deny words shifting in meaning, when it's just a natural thing that happens!
