Oh god, I hate to agree, but I do. Kanda is so my favorite character, and DGM was something I looked forward to reading every week as scanlations came out, but now I'm just scared the mangaka is going to run it into the ground like Naruto or any of the other Jump series that NEVER END.

I just wanted it to be 'rocks fall, everyone dies.' Because that's the ending you wouldn't have expected, or at least the one that wouldn't have been cliche. But now? Now everyone's back, and fine, and there's no end in sight, but...

I don't look forward to reading it, because I know anything that happens, Allen will just save the day. *sad*

After all the mysterious little hints of Kanda's past (like the tattoo for example) I think offing him before we get his backstory would actually be a bad move, storywise.

I mean, that would render a lot of the foreshadowing perfectly useless, not to mention leaving Kanda's rather obvious issues unresolved.

But you see, a lot of that has been covered in supplementary material (the Reverse novels). The only thing not covered is who the 'person he has to meet' is, and if he died before he met that person? that would have been kind of cool.

Sure, but we readers have to know who this person is, and why he wants to meet them before he can die.

Also, I didn't know about the supplementary canon; are you saying that we actually find out what the tattoo is, why he has it, and what the lotus is for? In that case I have to wonder why it's not in the main story. They seem sort of important.
