1. The author of this one should be given a gift set of the SoIaF books.
25. She'd tell you to settle for a relationship built on or around a chap with wealth who's from the same or higher social class as you, preferably a Tory landowner. Because, gods be praised, Austen kept her inner romantic on a very tight leash.
39. And most of the bishonen are too busy conditioning their hair and applying mascara to bother with interesting personalities either. Of my (admittedly limited) exposure to anime, what passes for depth of characterisation in that medium consists of a close up on a pair of oversized tear-filled anime eyes.

SoIaF stands for "Song of Ice and Fire", correct? If so, are those books really worth checking out? I've heard much about them.

Absolutely. The first book is "A Game of Thrones" - it may take you a while to really get into it, but once you do, there's no going back. I'm not going to claim the series is without flaws, but it is a prime example of gripping, intelligent fantasy, and Martin (the author) is a master when it comes to the manipulation of point of view and reader sympathy.

(And try not to hear anymore about them - you'll get spoiled! Just go out and get hold of the first book!)
