41. I disagree mostly with your Buffy/Angel comments. Season 4 of Buffy really stunk because of the forced happy relationship and college bit, but Season 5 really picked up and got moving with better character developement and drama (which surprisingly got better after Riley Finn got the hell out). Season 5 of Angel was also really good and tied up some pretty loose ends well; not to mention that You're Welcome and SMILE TIME were the two of the greatest Buffyverse stories EVER (imho).
I have yet to watch all of Firefly, but I watched Serenity at one point and it did seem really rushed and kind of disapointing as a conclusion so I'd say you're not wrong in it being a let down.

Eh, S4 still had some interesting stuff and some great episodes. Adam was the worst Big Bad, but any season that has "Restless" "Hush" and a few others that aren't immediately coming to mind at the moment can't be too bad.

Also, Giles playing guitar. Mmmm.

You have a point.. those were both great episodes and Giles playing guitar is epic.

I still stand by my point that the forced happy relationship and most of the college stuff was pretty hoaky, though. I didn't mind Adam, too much, however.

No, I can agree with that. S1 was cheesy fun, S2 was fantastic, S3 was phenomenal and IMHO the best season of the show. S4 started the show's decline, I'll totally agree on that (though it and S5 still had some moments of brilliance and even S6 had OMWF and Tabula Rasa). It had Riley the Spud, began the wussification of Spike, and resulted in Oz leaving the cast. The whole Initiative thing and Adam was "bleh" and the college stuff was, as you said, hokey.

Still, I think overall it was a decent season and preserved a lot of the show's "feel" that was especially gone in S6/7. It still had the core Scooby dynamic and had a bunch of fantastic episodes (though it admittedly also had "Beer Bad.")

But I think I enjoyed it more than S5 overall if only because Michelle Trachtenburg got on my nerves so damn much >_>
