Ayrt

I hate missing it too. Whenever I do, it seems like I miss all the wank, interesting threads and secrets.

Yea! Which is no fun.

Plus, at this point fs is a part of my daily schedule, so it would be weird not talking to any of you. (And it keeps me informed on fandom in a way I wouldn't otherwise be. Thanks for that, fs.)

(Anonymous) 2014-07-21 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. It's basically the only place I go to for fandom interaction. Theres so many people here that I love talking with. Might go that final step and make an account soon.

Yea, me too. Used to spend a lot of time at LJ communities, but now that most of fandom has moved to tumblr I'm not as active online. (Except for here, of course.)

If you decide to, good luck! (Not that you'll need it!)

I missed out on LJ. :( I wish that I had a time machine so I could experience it. Most of my fandoms were big on LJ. Especially my main one. I always get into things late

Thank you!

Awww, that's a shame! Lots of people seem to miss LJ and for me that's when it was easiest to find what you wanted and to find other people to discuss your interests with. I miss it. Wish you could've experienced it too! (FS is a taste of that, in a way? So I'm glad fs is still around.)

(Anonymous) 2014-07-22 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
It really is! I only got into fandom in general four or so years ago so I missed out on a lot. There were communities on there for some of my rarepairs. It is such a shame that they're so dead and I can't connect with people there and gush about them. There were comms for everything.

Thank god for this comm though. You guys are fab and case is the best mod ever.

There were comms for everything.

That's LJ, alright! :/ Some comms are still fairly active, but unless the fandom is massive or very recent, most everyone else has moved on. You can usually find stuff on tumblr for smaller fandom, but of course it isn't always easy to hold a discussion on tumblr...

One day fandom will shift again, and when that happens hopefully things will be more community oriented again.

Case is extremely diligent and friendly; most mods would've gotten bored by now or would get frustrated, but case has this shit locked down. We're lucky.

It is amazing how there were comms for damn near everything. My main fandom is small, but active on tumblr. But I wouldn't even know how to jump in. I'm more of a lurker, but sonetimes you just want someone to squee with, ya know? And yeah, tumblr kkinda sucks for discussion.

I hope so too. I really hope that journal sites become a thing again. Wishful thinking, I know.

And he's really open about wwhy he makes the decisions he makes. Thats what I like best. He doesn't just freeze a tgread and offer no explanation. We are super lucky.

Yup, I get that. Tumblr is lots of fun for finding gifs and seeing people's instant reactions, but beyond that it can be difficult to find someone to talk with (I suppose you just make a text post and hope people reply? idk, I don't tumblr well either), and that's a huge part of the appeal of fandom for me. (Even having the option is nice, you know? I've lurked in the past too, but it was comforting to know that I had someplace I could go if I wanted to chat with people about my interests.)

Journal sites will come back around! I KNOW THIS. (Okay, I don't, but that would be nice.)

Ooo, that's true. I've been in communities where the mods were hush hush and didn't interact with their members much, and they certainly didn't publicly explain their decisions. Lots of transparency here at fs.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-22 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
And the fanart! Don't forget the fanart! I wouldn't know how to do it either. Apparantly the messaging system on tumblr sucks and even if it didn't, I'm way too shy/hesitant to just pm someone out of the blue. There's no way to chat with someone before just jumping into a pm with someone there, it seems. I totally get you.

It would be beyond fantastic. Keeping my fingers crossed and wishing on all of the stars.

That's the best thing about it imo. The transperacy and theres no mod clique.

Ahhhhh, yes, the fanart. The fanart is a blessing. And as far as I know, yea, you have to PM or ask someone a question, unless you just want to reblog and add to a post of theirs, or comment on a post of theirs. (And most posts don't seem to have a plain 'comment' option; you need to reblog.) Blah. No matter how nice or open the person seems, tumblr just makes contacting people seem intimidating.

(Anonymous) 2014-07-22 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, yeah it's become a strange sort of fandom news outlet for me. I don't have the time or interest to follow a lot of fandoms, but F!S keeps me up to date on the latest wank. Kinda funny that way.

Same, in some ways. I tend to not get super involved in any one fandom for long, so fs is a great place to talk about my interests or learn about other fandoms. And it's the most convenient place to hear about fandom news since we get a bit of everything here, and have daily general comments (so anyone can weigh in on...well, anything).

Same for me. It's really my main connection to "fandom" (as in, discussion about media, rather than just consumption of it) at this point, other than talking to some people irl.

It seems a lot of us are in the same boat! Before fandom changed so much I had LJ comms I frequented, but then I lurked for a bit and found my way back to fs. It's nice to have so many friendly people to talk to. (All in one place, so you kind of know what you're getting.)

It's also less time-consuming to just keep up with the one comm.

And I love the community here. <3
