Without even trying to troll on this, in all seriousness - yeah, I believe that a comparison to the IRA would be less troubling for Firefly than a comparison to the Civil War and the Confederacy

You should totally listen to David Kincaid's Irish civil-war era music. Excellent stuff and very similar but without the baggage, so to speak. Except for civil war baggage, heh.
