Maybe I'm wrong on Horatio, but Elliot is definitely a fan favorite in the part of fandom I hang out in. I once pointed out his anger management issues (like that's some big secret) and got tons of comments defending him on the grounds that it's totally ok to nearly kill people with your bare hands as long as these people might be rapists. And no day goes by without someone moaning that Elliot should come back and marry Liv already.

We must hang in different circles then. I see a ton of hate and if anything, he's more of a basebreaker than outright fandom favorite in my experience.

Stabler's the worst thing in the world: a violent, dishonest cop. Fuck that miserable patriarchal son of a bitch. I can't watch that show because I end up rooting for the child molesters instead of Stabler, and I'm not comfortable doing that.
