Actually just finished one, but haven't posted it yet, so this thread comes a bit too early, heh.

I've been rewatching some Supernatural, and I'm wondering if anybody ever wrote an AU that would take Sam and Dean from mid-season 5 to events in The End (Croatoan virus, Sammifer, Cas sans powers, etc.)

I've also been watching Teen Wolf panels, and would love some fic centered on the adults - Argent, Stilinski, Melissa, Peter, *maybe* Derek. I'm fine with pre-series, and I'm fine with future fic that doesn't just drop a scenario in our lap with no explanation, but no Shopping or Coffee Shop AUs, no teen ships (unless in the context of the parent/child relationship) etc.

Can y'all help me out here?

I just got back into reading fanfic for this and I'm having some trouble finding what I'm interested in.

Mostly I'm looking for Obi-wan centric fic. Pre- and post-Episode 1, but not bogged down in the EU stuff as I'm only familiar with the movies. I'm really interested in the relationship between Obi-wan and Qui-gon, as master and padawan or romantic. If romantic I'd prefer if their relationship before isn't too close to student/teacher, more equal, and that Obi-wan isn't younger than 18 or so.

I'm also really interested in anything that's heavy on daily life in the Jedi Temple instead of just missions.

If you like the Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon relationship it's gonna be hard to avoid EU references because most of the stuff about their relationship comes from the Jedi Apprentice books. Those are YA novels and very easy to read--not stellar literature but they gave some great stuff and you can down one in like an hour. There is a LOT of great fic (more master/padawan than slash) originating from that series.

Something that avoids EU...hmm. The best of them in my mind is this 'Peggy Sue'-style fic where RotS-era Obi-Wan gets sent back to the middle of Phantom Menace. Good stuff imho.

Come to think of it, Starstruck (mentioned below) could probably fit this. I'll quote from the author's explanation:

[Curran] sent me a rather interesting message in December, 2011. He was given a Christmas gift-art of his OC, a black-coated, navy blue-maned unicorn who was a total bookworm. His inquiry was quite simple. "I like your writing, could you write this character's bio for me? Doesn't have to be too long."

So I started asking questions. What's he like? What does he do? Dreams and aspirations?

"He's a direct scribe to Princess Luna. However, they share a forbidden romantic interest in one another, and have to rendezvous in secret, and nopony can find out about it."

So as you could imagine, after about sixty-five-and-a-half minutes of laughing (sorry Curran, but you gotta admit self-insert Luna/OC shipfics kinda explain themselves) I started writing down a rather lengthy dissertation about the lengths you have to go through to sell a Luna/OC shipfic, and explaining that it never really could be pulled off...especially like a fanbase such as this. I even threw out suggestions and ideas in the process of ranting about how a direct scribe to Luna is nowhere near as interesting as making them a lowly bottom-feeding undersecretary in a bloated Canterlot hierarchy, and that in order for it to work the story would have to be driven by great celestial magics that would only be found in, oh I dunno, ancient Equestrian archives.

And lo, that rant...became Starstruck.

Even though it's short, I think the author did a pretty good job of characterizing everyone and giving each of their sections an emotional punch. Ngl, I straight up cried while reading Keith's section because it seems like something that could absolutely happen in canon.

I dug through the recs on TV Tropes to see if I could find anything relevant, and I noticed that our very own Pantswarrior had a recommended fic there. I haven't read it yet, but it could be worth a look. http://archiveofourown.org/works/406111

A while back, I read an MLP fic called Starstruck. The first two chapters were written in very purple prose, like so:

Nearly two years ago, he had stepped into his first day, imagining adventures in the stacks of literature and lore that would fulfill his voracious mental appetite for themes and meanings. To be a part of this wonder that left him spellbound and captivated since he first moved to Canterlot in his budding youth. To reach out and deliver unto others the same swaths of literary joy for others to devour as hungrily as he did. To a long-running descent into a grim realization of the true nature of slaving within the confines of the structure he’d grown to love in his more naive years, he had yet to even reach the appetizer of mental nourishment. Instead he had only been served meager scraps of mundanity and tedium.

The Canterlot sampler platter. A proverbial buffet line of rice balls whose flavors would only differ in the color of toothpick stuck through it. All the same form of monotony intricately and delicately displayed beneath a different banner, either to fool those stacked within the endless echelons of drones or give the mental delusion of belonging within a system where they’d otherwise feel redundant.

And grandiose glomping griffons, even his mind could only describe his job with mundane run-on sentences as frivolous as the very labor itself.

The author got a lot of negative comments saying it was unreadable, so after two chapters, he toned it way down.

Thing was, I LOVED that prose style. I found it really playful, making the words dance around the page and tie themselves in knots. Most other writers I've seen use language like that just fell flat on their faces, but I felt like this fellow really accomplished something, and even though the rest of the fic was still great, I felt a little let down.

Anyone want to recommend anything with a prose style like that?

I want Draco-switches-to-the-good-side fic so bad. Preferably not shippy, but if it is, then I'd prefer Slash. Anyone know any good ones?

I would also like recs like this.

It's not the only focus, but A Year Like None Other is about Snape adopting Harry and Draco, and Draco's whole thing is learning how to be a good, non-racist person.

Welll, the tie-in novels are like published fic and some of those are quite good! (and easy to find online or at a local used book store) I like all of the novels by Diane Duane, Diane Carey's if you can stand some headdesky prose in places, 'Ishmael' (amnesia!Spock on 19th century earth I like it so), the 'Janus Gate' trilogy...these are all TOS btw, do you like other series? Christie Golden writes the best Voyager books....

I have read some of the novels! I guess they are just like gen fan fic, just published, heh. This has inspired to me go and give some more of them a read.

Anybody got any good Draco/Hermoine recs? I've never ventured into that realm of fandom.
