I mean, I don't think Catcher would be my kind of book - I have never read it - but I don't think those are good reasons to not like it.

Honestly, while I agree "classics" are annoyingly white male-dominated, I don't think the point was that Holden was a white guy. The point was that he had those issues, which many young people struggle with regardless of race, gender, or anything else.
