Re: To let you know about the X-men universe

I'm for a hypothetical situation where it doesn't get abused. Of course, that's not feasible, but I still think 'blows things up with eyebeams = someone should know you exist.' I can be rational enough to know that the way the movie people wanted to do it was awful, while still thinking the core idea has merit.

Different Anon 0 I think the problem is I cannot imagine a world where it wouldn't be abused.

I guess that just doesn't phase me? Everything can be abused, so the idea that we shouldn't do something because it could be abused doesn't really pan out for me.

nayrt. It doesn't faze you until you're the one they want on a registry, which would I presume also require monitoring your coming and goings. Then you might feel a little less ambivalent about the possibility of abuse.

AYRT I kind of agree with anon above where the problem is I have trouble seeing a world where these kind of things aren't abused.

And not all mutants are destructive, not just eliminating those who stay out of the fight but some of them have weak powers or no powers at all. I could completely see in universe how mutants wouldn't want to register, particularly the ones who are just trying to live their day to day lives.

I can see your point with how destructive mutants can be, but I don't think it's an easy hypothetical.

I just think anything can be abused, really. People twist the law into pretzels. But laws still do a lot of good.
