And also, they're not just casually referring to sports fans as being male, they're placing women in the category of unknowledgeable people and bandwagon fans.

But the vast majority of the people pretending to be ~totally interested in football~ during World Cup season but ask every single time what "offside" means are women. They really are the majority of unknowledgeable people and bandwagon fans in this case.
