They did pretty well with the first season, but yeah, after that they fucked up with handling the rest of Korra.

How did they sabotage the franchise from the beginin

I meant they did pretty well advertising and not sabotaging the first season. The put it on a good timeslot and advertised the hell out of it.

The only good thing about the first season was Steve Blum imo.

True.

There were some things I liked about S1, and some I didn't. But you're right, as far as actually running the show, they did much better.
