Dear fandom friend, you're very sweet and I love you and I *am* grateful that you noticed my obsession for a new fandom. And I am trying to see what you gave me as well intentioned, but, really, cookie-cutter-paste-characters-name OOC fic with a note saying "bwahahaha still haven't watch it and writing fic anyway"? Thanks but no thanks. I feel insulted instead by your accidental belittlling of something I love.
What would *really* please me were you actually watching it and forging your own opinion on it. Even if you end up deciding you don't like it. If you don't want to watch it, then don't pretend you want to be involved with it!

Oh wow, that sounds... maybe well intentioned but really annoying. I get the impression that your friend wants to get in on the fun but doesn't want to actually do any research first. That's kind of thoughtless. Feel free to write her an epic OOC fic for one of her fandoms that you don't follow!

It's a fucking TV Show (or maybe a movie). Chill out. If your 'love' of a piece of media is so powerful that it strains an actual relationship with another human being, you are taking it way too fucking far.
I'm sorry if this is harsh, but people in fandom need to keep some goddamned perspective.
