I'm more liberal than my parents, but our political beliefs aren't too far apart. We've voted for the same candidates before and agree on some issues.

Religiously, my dad is an extremely devoted southern baptist, and my mom has similar beliefs (she is a bit more open, though) but doesn't share his enthusiasm for church or religion. Me? Well, I went to church till my mid-teens, but after that I gave up because going had started to make me feel frustrated and dishonest. (I felt like it was expected of me, and I didn't want to disappoint, but eventually I got over it.)

I don't know what I'd call myself now, but while I believe in something, religion isn't a large part of my life.

So no, we don't agree on religion, and I've actually got into some arguments with my dad over it. It's better we not discuss it tbh.

Your dad is a liberal Southern Baptist? That's one I haven't heard before.

Haha, I wouldn't call him a strict liberal but he does consider himself a democrat and is far from the right; when religion doesn't enter the conversation he tends to be pretty reasonable. He's liberal for a southern baptist though, I guess? Many times I've heard him lament that his Bible group at Church got on the topic of politics and he didn't feel comfortable speaking. It's weird and even I don't get it, so I've learned to just be glad he's not going to vote for someone I find absolutely appalling.
