Re: How do your beliefs line up with your parents?

My mom is Christian but really keeps it on the DL, and politically she's conservative. However, I think she spends more time thinking about practical things than overarching or existential things (either that, or she simply doesn't talk about them a lot).

My dad is a Democrat and he's sort of an agnostic-unitarian-deist (that's the phrase I use to describe his beliefs; he doesn't really have a name for them). In practice, he's pretty much areligious. (I guess my mom is in practice too, since it's been years since she's gone to church.)

Neither of them talks about religion or politics much, though - with each other afaik, or with me, or even with their friends. So I'm not really sure how much I line up. I'm a nondenom Christian who's not currently going to church but would like to fix that soonish, and politically sort of a...liberaltarian? In short, socially liberal, and fiscally, as distrusting of corporations and wealthy individuals as I am of the government, which is a lot. I'm all about balance and maximizing freedom while making sure everyone's basic needs are met (and by that I mean food, shelter, healthcare, education, access to public resources, so on)

but I really don't know exactly how my folks feel in regard to a lot of particular issues. so it's hard to say. I don't think they enjoy talking about politics or religion as much as I do heh.
