The thing that bothers me a little about lauding these new, popular works for their progressivism is that there are other, smaller works often did it before (and better…) but are ignored. That's not to say that the new work shouldn't be lauded, but it makes me sad that some of these older, more obscure works are ignored.

That and it annoys me when people perceive criticism of a new "progressive" work as a result of bigotry when it's just that I've seen it done before a lot better and so, yeah, I'm not 100% happy with the new work's depiction of a particular element.

That's all I'll say about that, though, because I don't want to start a giant mountain of wank.
