I like the songs but apart from that I don't really get it. Probably lack of watching it with other people.

But it sucks that people don't really think about films sometimes (especially the people you mention here who sound a bit stupid, I mean he is supposed to be scary). But everyone has different interest and sometimes films just don't resonate with people there is nothing you can do about it.

Those are my exact feelings about the movie too.

Yeah, it's no fun to watch alone. The first time I saw it, I rented it from Blockbuster (throwback!) and watched it by myself, and I just didn't understand it. Then I started to love it when I would go to screenings and performances and such with friends.
