Pissed me off: I have friends that are notorious for being late. Last weekend, I went to a concert with C. and her mother, and they were an hour late for our proposed meeting time (which THEY had set) because they didn't factor in enough time for traffic and parking for an unfamiliar venue. They were barely in time for the concert to begin, but not for socializing before over our picnic. It also meant that we couldn't explore the gourmet food trucks (so no beer/wine for us) at the concert venue.

Then last night I was hosting a D&D party and had set a 3:00 start time-- factoring in latecomers (nobody showed until 3:20) and hanging out for a while-- with the hope of getting the game underway by 4:00. Well C. and her husband D. text me at 3:15 saying they'd be late but they'd be there ASAP. I thought this meant they were coming from C's parents' house in LA but that ASAP meant that it couldn't be more than a hour late. 4:15 is okay. Well at 4:15 rolls around and everyone else is at my house but them, so I text D. again and he says they're on the freeway meaning that they were coming from their place in Santa Barbara. They didn't arrive until after 4:45, and we didn't get playing until 5. AAAAARRRRRGGGH.

Made me happy: I have lots of leftover party treats, including fancy cookies, Vernor's ginger ale (which I love, but I rarely drink soda), and Moroccan rice! And my Angels won today. I should get an Angels icon.

I know that feel. The word "punctual" isn't in my family's vocabulary, let alone our genes, so family get-togethers tend to drag at least two hours behind the proposed start time. Frustrating!

At least you've got the goodies to show for the annoyance, right? Congrats on your team's win, too! That's totally cool. :)
