This is gonna be some hard truth, but it really depends. If you're conventionally pretty or look like a popular character, then yes. On the other hand, if you're not any of the previous mentioned or a size 0, then no. That's because of unattainable high expectations and possible delusions some people have based on their fandom of choice. Mostly thinking they can land the previously mentioned people.

But there is an exception. I think since you're in your late 20s (as am I) the expectations start to waver as people begin to realize that the hot 20 year old is not obtainable and would actually be annoying to converse with. Then the problem starts to become elitism... Like how in HIMYM Ted and co. got really weird about any girl that disliked Star Wars. Not quite that extreme, but along those lines. Especially if they have friends who've gotten married to SOs who are into the same things they are. The standards are still high, but not based on physical and more mentally.

tl;dr I think "geeky people" have higher standards which makes it more difficult.
