How on Earth is it uncool to determine whether or not to continue posting your work based on whether or not there is any positive response to it?

Late to the party, but hey, why not:

Because you're supposed to be writing fanfiction for the fun of it. If you're actually writing because you're looking for attention, then you need to stop writing fic and start getting some therapy and some RL friends.
