If you're talking floor/desk fan rather than ceiling fan, turn it on but point it towards an area of the room where you don't spend much time. You get ambient coolness that's less aggressive than having it aimed at/near you or oscillating.

That's an excellent idea! I actually do this sometime, but I still get cold... Lol.

What I really need to do is move the fan across the room, but that area is a bit crowded so it would take some reorganization. I'm lazy so it hasn't happened yet.
