One of my hobbies is sharing food (preserves, fancy meals, cakes), and the feedback is definitely an absolute highlight. I love spending time looking up awesome recipes that meet the complex dietary needs of the people around me.

The actual cooking? A chore. I don't much enjoy peeling potatoes or julienning carrots or whatever, heck I hate stick-testing cakes and virtually all the cakes I make require it.

But every "I can't believe I can eat something like _this_" gives me energy for the weeks to come. Every time a colleague grins when they spot my cooler bag and leans out of their door to ask what I brought? Fucking awesome.

There are roundabout fifty people who would be very willing to tell you "for the feedback" is an absolutely awesome reason to do something. As a chronically depressive person with aspergers, I love the simple script for the moments of "give person food, wait for happy noises". The whole process energises me and helps me make happy memories.

When I'm writing, it's exactly like that. There are wide swaths of the writing process that aren't that fun to me, but getting feedback makes it all worthwhile.

PS: If you just wanna back up your fic, there are plenty of private ways like google docs or dropbox to do so. In general, fanfic archives are for use by people who wish to share their work with others.
