...Rin is unpopular? Aside from occasional bashing, it seems like there are a ton of Rin/Haru fans and other people who have him as one of their favorite characters. There's also a signigicant contingent who woobify the hell out of him (I've seen so many fanfics where Rin's training in Australia actually turned out to be a hellish nightmare in which he was abused/raped/bullied/whatever and he needs the ~power of love~ to heal him and break his hard exterior. They're kind of funny)

I've only heard secondhand that "Rin is hated" etc but I've never seen anybody hating firsthand. Wait, I saw one or two people here say they hate Rin but this place is kind of hate/hate/love about stuff anyway.

He has a few haters, but he's by no means unpopular. And Rin/Haru is the second biggest pairing in the fandom.
