I think you have a point about not creating an echo chamber, but it's nice to relax in fandom sometimes instead of always analyzing everything for social and political issues. And OP isn't saying they never analyze things, just that they don't want to for this fandom.

Some people can and do normally criticize things and just don't do that in fandom, or have a certain fandom they set aside where they don't want to do that. Just because they aren't talking about it doesn't mean they never think about it.

oh, of course, i agree with you. fandom isn't media analysis 101.

i didn't mean that they had to join in on the criticism (if that wasn't clear im sorry), but have, like, idk, just something like having some of it on your dash that you can scroll past when you're not in the mood.

also, when i say criticism, i mostly mean criticism of quality (ie bad acting, bad writing, things like that). personally i couldn't care less about the social/political implications of media.

I was with you until you qualified your criticism to bad acting/writing. Because I don't need people to tell me when writing is bad. And if I happen to enjoy it despite its bad writing (or acting) I don't want to deal with a bunch of negativity about this thing that I like.

well, i could have worded that better, true, but it's not restricted to acting and writing. there's also things like translation, dubbing, historical accuracy, consistency, and a lot of other things that are harder to spot than just poor general quality.

and when i think something i've seen was subpar, i like to check if other people think the same. even when it's a thing i like.
