Android Games (esp. RPGs)
(Anonymous) 2014-07-28 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)I like casual games (Candy Crush type) because I play on my breaks at work a lot, but classic JRPGs are the key to my heart and I'd love a rec for those. I know that some Final Fantasy games are available but the reviews of the ports vary greatly.
Re: Android Games (esp. RPGs)
Adventure Bar Story wasn't bad, either.

Re: Android Games (esp. RPGs)
First off, I'd highly recommend Reddit's Android Gaming sub. Yes, I know, Reddit, but there are lots of helpful people who love to give recs (like me) and great reviews on various games that are there!
I would say the Final Fantasy games are okay, but personally I had a better experience playing them on an emulator on my computer than I did on the phone ports. If you haven't played them before and want to give them a try, though, go ahead! But do definitely check out Record of Agarest War, which is an amazing port, considering it came from the PS3 to Android, and it's also done really well. Plus, discount! Under $10!
As for what I would suggest - I'd second the Dungeon Village recommendation, but also given what you said, would suggest games like:
- 10000000 (if you liked Candy Crush, this is basically Sliding Match-3 the RPG)
- Might & Magic: Clash of Hereos (this one is a REALLY GOOD RPG experience)
- Doom & Destiny (straightforward RPG!)
- The Bard's Tale (this is a GOOD port!)
- Knights of Pen & Paper +1 (great game, lovely system, hilarious scenarios)
- Dweller (nice little rouge game)
- The Enchanted Cave (SUPER addictive, super fun, an all around great casual RPG)
- Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey (a really well made casual wordgame!)
- Crystal Story and Crystal Story II (both of these are really well made RPGs that are very enjoyable to have with you on the go - and yes, you can find them online, but I'd recommend buying if you can afford it to support the developer!)
I'd be happy to suggest more, but I think this is a good starting set!

(Anonymous) 2014-07-29 02:20 am (UTC)(link)As for the Final Fantasy games, I've played all but V before, but not for years and I enjoyed them, so they seemed like a safe place to go since there is a literal ocean of RPGs on the marketplace. Anyway thanks!!
